Cade (2017) Teaser
A Film By Micah Steller: Coming to Festivals Autumn 2017
Known for his controversial comedic style and personality offstage, Brendhan Lovegrove becomes the fictional 'Cade'; with an uncontrollable flame, and a feverish intensity that will always be challenged with the mania of each of his episodes. His breakdowns are driven and forced, controlled. He destroys stability in lieu of transformation- forgetting his former self entirely so the past can never envelop his present.
Close to a nervous breakdown, Cade's dissatisfaction with life has become palpable and it is beginning to show in his art form, as a comedian. His jokes are no longer hitting home. The bitterness that he once turned into biting satire is now simply sounding like bitterness.
Steven Ciprian [Under the Earth] returns to work once again with Director Micah Steller; playing the role of Cade's agent, in a disfunctional co-dependent relationship; feeding into Steven's immersion acting style, the two actors bring the art form to the extreme edge. As the story moves, his relationships dissolve, as does his career. Hitting rock bottom Cade reaches a point where he turns up on stage drunk and openly abuses the audience. He begins to get turned away from clubs, no one will let him on stage.
Collaborating with Comedian Vaughan King, Former owner of VK's Comedy and Blues, Wellington, with a supporting role by Auckland based Comedian Jeremy Elwood, the cast of 'Cade' merge their reality as long time performers in New Zealand, with that of the story of Cade; a portrait of a man, middle age, struggling as a comedian. A fiction documentary into the life of Cade and his stand up.
